![]() For work, I use Excel once in a while but not in a position where I'm displaying data for people. I may play with Numbers with some new data and see if I can do what I want with it, and how quickly I can get accustomed to it. I have to use Windows for work but each year I detest it more and prefer the Apple and Linux environments. And I can't imagine setting up a VM just for Excel. I haven't had any issues with Excel for Mac. For now I might just leave it off this iMac and once my iMac arrives I can delay the decision for a while since that is a relatively new iMac (2018). On previous iMacs, I've had Office 2003, 20 installed. Once in a while I do some graphing of data and using R**2 (R squared data) as well. Depending on what they are, it may be worth the $100 to avoid them. I am just curious what major roadblocks people have encountered that required rework of spreadsheets. Some things are frustrating just because it is new and in Excel I know how to quickly freeze rows/columns, highlight stuff, use the Copy Format style paintbrush, etc. Some issues in vlookup has been due to references to other spreadsheets and my directory structure isn't the same right now. I know I could get Office 365 (well I guess it is now called Microsoft 365) for about $100 but I'm not a big fan of subscription services so I've been trying to open existing Excel spreadsheets (had access to them via a backup on a SSD) and seeing what issues I will have. I'm in the process of moving and my "regular" iMac is in transit (for several weeks) and I just got a new iMac (will be used by my wife once she gets here). Has anyone switched over to Numbers (included on Apple computers) and have had minimal issues with the switch? Besides basic math stuff, they do use VLOOKUP, string functions (left/right/mid) and INDEX/MATCH. I don't do much with charts/graphing but have spreadsheets that are a few thousand rows and maybe 100 columns. Like many, I've been a user of Excel for many years.
